10 Olsen inspired outfits perfect for postpartum.
All hail the Queens of off-duty, nonchalant dressing.
I, probably like most of you are obsessed with Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen and have been ever since they played the very cute and cheeky toddler, Michelle Tanner in Full House. Still a fan, and now, a The Row admirer, rarely a consumer (I do trawl the second-hand sites like any other self-respecting fashion-lover and have been lucky once or twice!) as the price tag is, unfortunately, out of reach. That does not stop me from screenshotting their latest looks when we are so lucky to get a rare sighting of one or both of the mythical creatures. They have so many great off-duty looks but I have narrowed it down to ten (let me know if you want a part 2?) as to not overwhelm. Most pieces you probably already have in your closet so perhaps this will give you some inspiration for new ways to wear some old classics like grey sweat pants, or dressing down silk pants or how to wear a shirt you would have normally reserved for the office.

Cardigan (BF friendly- for those who need it) / Sweat pants / Bag / Sunglasses / Tee / Shoes
The Olsens could wear a paper bag and we’d all be googling like mad women to find out what brand it is, but for us mere mortals, I do think there is a level of effort required to appear effortless. Pairing sweatpants with knitwear is one way to do this. A good note to add is to resist the urge to wear runners – wear a shoe that is not totally expected and this will transform an outfit from otherwise looking too gymwear – unless you are actually exercising of course.
Sunglasses (perfect for sleepless nights!) / Bag (chose this one because of the longer strap and a bit more room for a nappy, wipes etc.) / Top / Pants - a wide leg to be a little more elevated / Thongs (again not a runner)
A matching tracksuit is without a doubt one of the easiest options, I chose this COS set as it’s more of an ombre tone and the collar, and wide legged pants feel a little dressier to me while remaining a no-brainer outfit.
Sunglasses / Leggings (I’d be surprised if you don’t own these) / Flats (Vestiaire if you’re lucky!) or this Tory Birch pair is a 1/4 of the price of Chanel / Cardigan (BF friendly of course, and bonus points for covering le bottom) / Bag
This outfit in particular I can see myself wearing on repeat. It’s so simple, comfortable, chic and perfect for almost any situation you may find yourself in with a newborn.
Pants / Bracelets (slightly cheesy but I’m here for it) / Shoes / Shirt (I prefer a blue shirt over a purple shirt but here’s one for you anyway) / Bag (great baby bag. Tip: Add an organiser insert so you can easily find everything).
Shirt dress / Sunglasses / Bag / Shoes
I have seen long shirt dresses everywhere lately and I love the ease of them especially when coming into the warmer months. I’ve also seen them styled open and worn over jeans which I’m a fan of too.
Earrings / Jeans (cuff if you want to) / Shoes (love the silver hard wear) / Linen shirt / Backpack / Silk hair ties
If your jeans do not immediately fit (you’re not alone) then save yourself the heartache and buy a pair that does, you can always have them tailored down the track.
Sunglasses / Pants / Mesh flats (I’m not an espadrille wearer but if you are here’s a great option) / Collarless shirt / Ring / Bag
Sunglasses / Skirt / Shoes / Bag (had to put at least one baby bag in) / Ring / Bangle / Vest (the deep v-neck makes this BF. This one is also nice but for a closer silhouette to Ashley, this one by Totême is divine.
Tee / Bracelet one and two / Bag / Sunglasses / Skirt / Thongs
A long skirt is a great way to mix things up, especially if it’s warmer and you’re headed to the park or beach, or both. The rubber thongs are also great to have on hand for this when there’s a risk of water/sand/mud/all of the above.
Sunglasses / Tee / Velvet slippers / Scarf (if ordering from Australia just email for shipping options) / Tote / Silk pants
Any slipper-like show is a godsend when pregnant and during postpartum, as is the luxuriousness of wearing a silk, elastic waist pant.
