What I’ve found and heard from other friends who also recently had kids was that it made us much more aware of the BS in the corporate world. It has made us reassess what actually matters. Having a kid has made it harder to a certain things within our career (such as travel) but even as some one who was affected my layoff in the US during mat-leave, I still believe it’s made me much more intuitive at my job and given me a different sense of confidence that has propelled my career forward in a different way.

The whole ‘it ruined my career’ sentiment (which I can relate to) is about so much more - it’s about changing priorities and worldviews, having to make choices between one thing and another, the privileges we do or don’t have. Something that’s very hard to unpack in 3.5 minutes!
