What is Dear Dilate?
It’s a good place on the internet for women who happen to be mothers and who are curious about fashion, identity, career and the many facets that make us human. You won’t find tips on how to feed or a cureall for sleep deprivation, but what you will find are relatable essays, think pieces and in-depth interviews which explore what it means to be a mother in our modern world – all this with a side of stylish recs and a peek into the lives (and wardrobes) of mothers who look put-together even if they don’t feel as though they have it all together.
And who are you?
I’m Jade Fox, a writer and copywriter who has written for ELLE.com.au, Vogue.com.au.com.au and Body & Soul, as well as a few other Australian titles. Much of my professional life has been spent in editorial, marketing and branding, but what I’m really into is learning about people and, even more specifically, having open conversations with motherhood about how they work, dress, live, mother and keep it somewhat together in a world that demands so much. I'm also a working mother-of-one-and-three quarters (currently pregnant), living in Sydney, who is trying to make space for my own identity and passions outside of motherhood – and so Dear Dilate was born. First, an Instagram, swapping stories and connecting with others throughout the pandemic, an event that changed the way we live and parent, has since grown into a community of thousands of mothers across the globe.
When will I receive a newsletter?
Free subscribers will receive a newsletter at least once a week, which might be an in-depth essay, an interview with a special guest, read/watch/listen recs or a list of personal shopping recs from me.*
For $5 a month (or $50 a year), paid subscribers will have access to the full archive plus any special edits or if you have any requests please send them through.
This schedule may change as DD evolves, but for now, I think this works.
In all honesty, there will be recs that have been gifted to me or that are friends of mine but believe me when I say; I'll only ever recommend things to you DD reader, that I truly believe are life-changingly good.
* This may be a slower pace as I have just had my second baby and adjusting to life with two but rest-assured, DD will be in full swing shortly.
